My name is Monica Napier and I have been in the field of education for 14 years. I love all things education, science, technology, STEM, & STEAM! and I'm currently an Instructional Technology Coordinatorin Duncanville, TX.
In my current role I facilitate the effective use of computers and other technology initiatives across Duncanville ISD. My current projects include coordinating and delivering evidenced based PD that aligns technology with instructional goals, designing district e-learning opportunities and building our districts one to one student device Iniatives. While in Duncanville, I've attended and presented at the Texas Computer Education Association and the Elementary Technology Conference in 2023.
I found my passion in bringing education technology to my classroom as an 5th Grade Elementary Science and Social Studies. During my tenure at my campus I had the opportunity to help my campus obtain a $50,000 grant and to become a STEAM School of Innovation designated through the Dallas ISD School Choice program.
As an Instructional Coach, I oversaw the construction of our Makerspace lab and the laid the groundwork for our Multimedia Studio. With the support of campus leadership I led the development of our campus STEAM PBL units, an accomplishment I am most proud Each day I had the opportunity to shape the learning of students through exposing and leading teachers to expand their understanding of EdTech platforms.
In addition to my role as an Instructional Coach I was a classroom teacher for 8 years in which I enjoyed creating engaging technology rich activities for my students. This is where I learned the value of designing lessons that were rigorous, student focused, and dynamic. I earned the campus title of "Tech Guru" by being willing to stretch my learning and my insatiable appetite for EdTech professional learning.
Whether it's attending professional development through the National Endowment for the Humanities or attending and presenting at the Texas Computer Education Association Conference, attending the International Society of Technology Educators, or through or local Region 10 ESC, I'm constantly searching for new and exciting ways to bring advancements in technology to my district and the students we serve. I've continued my love of STEM by joining the Steering Committee serving as a voice for continued innovation for the students of Duncanville ISD. In a nutshell, I'm ALWAYS up for a challenge.
On This website I hope to take you along with me as I strive to learn more and more each day! I truly believe that I learning is a life long process and I'm loving every step of this journey!
